With help from an adult, safely chop the onion into small pieces.
Tip: Keep nails poitning in and down when chopping.
Tip: Rinse your hands under cold water to stop the onion tears 😢.
Mix onions with the minced beef and season.
Roll the mix into small balls and press into burger shapes cupping your hands toghether and flattening the mince into a nice burger shape.
Place your healthy burger on greaseproof paper to stop it from sticking and refrigerate it for 30 minutes before cooking it. (If you can wait that long!)
Heat the barbecue to medium hot (there will be white ash over the red hot coals – about 40 minutes after lighting it). Then brush each side of the burger with oil.
Place the burgers oil-side down on the barbecue and cook for 5 minutes until the meat is lightly charred.
Tip: Don’t move them around or they may stick or even break.
Oil the other side, then turn it over and cook for 5 minutes more for medium charred.
Remove from the barbecue and place inside your burger bun, then top with your choice of accompaniment.
