Fit and Fed Camps
April has been a very busy month for EOLAS+ with children returning to schools and an awesome Easter holidays filled with camps. With so many children raring to get back to normality, we have enjoyed offering our fun, friendly and informative action camps to more children in Devon than ever before.
In the build up to Easter, we wanted to make our camps more accessible and, in partnership with Plymouth City Council and Devon County Council, we were able to make this a reality. Through their “Fit and Fed” initiative, we successfully funded 426 free places at our camps, with all those receiving a free, healthy meal. In total, we welcomed 711 children across 38 camps.
The Return of GrassRoots Rugby
April has also seen a welcome return of our Grassroots Rugby Camps. After a winter devastated by lockdowns and regulations, it was great to welcome children from all around Plymouth to our camp at the KGV Playing Fields, Elburton.
We had aspiring young players from over 5 different local clubs from the area such as OPM, Plymstock Albion Oaks, Devonport Services, Ivybridge and more join in the fun, and some new recruits who had not experienced rugby before as well.
It was hugely encouraging and from that we raised money for the OPM Junior Rugby team, which was the start of our exciting programme to GROW THE GAME and help clubs re-engage with the community.
We were also joined by our friends at Lockerstash who brought along some of their kit and explained the good work they are doing in the south west. If you have not heard of them, look up their website, a wonderful team doing positives things in the community.
Also, if your club is not only looking for top quality training for your youth teams but keen on developing an income stream throughout the year. Please get in touch and see how, for a minimum effort you can make money through our GrassRoots Camps with a further potential of increasing new memberships.
Easter Camps were a fantastic opportunity to grow connections across the community and align our supportive aims with other companies who already play a big part in the community.
One of the new found partnerships was with Tamar Fresh, who like us, have a common interest in making a big social impact locally and further a field.
Tamar Fresh supplied us with our “healthy happy meal” packed lunches for each child throughout the camp, which were a huge success and received great feedback from parents, children and families alike.
Together with Tamar Fresh we are on a mission to educate children of all backgrounds around food, healthy choices, wellbeing, keeping active and sustainability of food and packaging.
A huge thank you to David Barrett, Tony Spreadborough and all the team at Tamar Fresh that made the camps even more successful. We are only at the beginning of a long and exciting journey with some awesome ideas and plans ahead together, so watch this space!
New Faces Join The Team
Return To Normality
On top of the successful holiday camps, we are hugely excited to be seeing full classes back in schools. Although we have been working hard to engage and deliver school PE virtually through lockdown, nothing quite makes up for having a class active and enjoying the sunshine. Fingers crossed we can have a near to normal summer of school sport!
Finally, we would like to invite you to check out our brand-new merchandise. From the jumpers you see our coaches wearing, through hats and T-shirts, we have something for everyone. Keep an eye out as we regularly update with new items.
