5 ways our Teacher CPD programme will benefit your school

Continued Professional Development for teachers also known as Teacher CPD now comes in a variety of forms from the traditional training day to the increasingly popular e-learning methods through online platforms or even video calls. The purpose, however, always remains the same: to help teachers continue their development, improve teaching and to broaden skill sets and outlook.

At Eolas+, as specialists in physical education, our focus is on giving children the opportunity to enjoy and perform in PE and sports and to also educate about healthy and active lifestyles and it’s importance for all walks of life. We achieve this through running sport and activity camps but also through supporting schools through specialist programmes and teacher CPD.

Structured into 3 tiers our Teacher CPD programmes are developed to provide PE support and upskilling to all parties involved, your school, your teachers as well as your pupils. Here are 5 of the ways our Teacher CPD programme will benefit your school.

1. Discover New Coaching Methods

Our wealth of experiences ranging from professional sports to inclusion specialism right down to introducing toddlers to new sports shows our team is experienced in using a wide scope of coaching methods. We aim to create engaging and constantly evolving environments to ensure the participants are learning throughout the sessions. Demonstrating these techniques first, then reviewing them with the teachers creates a real sense of partnership and comfort right from the start.

2. A Support Network

Known for being supportive and friendly our team is here to support your school and your teachers throughout your CPD programme. Whether teachers have questions in between the training days or are experimenting with new coaching methods and would like to review them with our coaches, someone will be on hand to support you.

3. Inclusion Specialists

Our team is highly trained in inclusion games and techniques. We pride ourselves in creating adapted activities which challenge everyone involved from the advanced athlete to the child who shows less interest in sport. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to try new sports and develop skills at their own pace. Our experience as PE lead of a special needs school has enabled us to be adaptable and inclusive for all abilities.

4. Progressive Learning

As previously mentioned, the Eolas+ CPD programme is structured in 3 tiers to allow progressive learning and avoid bombarding teachers with all the information in one go. We’re aware it can be overwhelming to be shown new coaching methods and to be told to change aspects of your teaching. Rather than that we want to make lasting changes in the delivery of your schools PE, and we do this through progressively feeding your teachers the knowledge, tools and techniques to put that in place.

5. Confidence Boost

Last but not least, the delivery of PE can be a stressful experience especially for new to the role and/or those with minimal hours clocked in PE or sports. This is where our CPD programme provides an even greater benefit, through the acquisition of new knowledge, skills, and coaching techniques we give teachers a huge boost in confidence, giving them the ability to deliver their PE sessions to the best of their ability.
Developed to assist schools and teachers in the delivery of quality PE our Teacher CPD programme supports teachers where they need us. Through the demonstration, discovery and discussion we introduce new coaching methods and allow teachers to develop their knowledge in various sports giving them not only the tools and understanding to improve their PE delivery but also the confidence to do so.
